Abstract We present the instrument simulator developed for X-ray Integral Field Unit X-IFU aboard planned Athena mission. aims to be an accurate representation of entire instrument, starting from a full simulation Transition-Edge Sensor (TES) array receiving impact photons unconstrained by small signal limit. Its output current is then propagated through readout chain, including multiplexing, amplification and digital readout. The final consists triggered records, which can post-processed reconstruct photon energies. chain itself separated into individual, modular blocks with several possible models each, allowing different schemes or varying physical accuracy at expense run time. New are implemented as necessary enable studies overall chain. Such also facilitated fine-grained control output, internal state intermediate blocks. In addition its modularity, allows manipulation certain parameters during run, enabling characterization measurements, environmental drifts various kinds crosstalk.
